Getting to Selong Hill: Is It an Easy Ride?

Selong Hill is kind of out there a bit. If you are up for using a scooter, just you know, be certain you’re good on two wheels, seeing that the roads get a bit curvy going up. Or else, a car might be a better shout, certainly if you’re toting more than a handful of stuff. Anyway, the views during the trip are really quite nice, yet keep your eye on the road! As a matter of fact, the way the light looked cascading onto the hills while climbing up was pretty memorizing, I felt kind of happy that I got to see it.

Getting near Selong Hill, you will probably hit upon parking near the base point before your small hike starts to those falls, then I am sure you will hit upon people trying to give advice. If you would prefer a tour-like scenario I would highly advise looking before going here. When you are doing your own unguided trek from Selong Hill just bear in mind where you started since it does involve a minimal trek! Alternatively you could probably just drop a pin location on your maps, but doing a landmarking exercise would probably be very handy here.

The Trek to Sendang Gila: What Should You Expect?

OK, let’s talk trekking to Sendang Gila. Now, it’s not like a super hardcore hike, just a bit of a walk. Often, there will be a path down which takes you on a staircase or a little walking route, very close to villagers. First off, there may very well be some “guides” that may wish to come along to assist you, more or less. Some can be very helpful when wanting to discover even more surrounding beauty, or if you would like to simply contribute towards their day – anyway that bit is totally your shout if you should accept them! That said, the trail’s actually pretty decent, not that I would be overly worried to traverse it by myself.

When the stairs and walking paths decline somewhat, there are sections, depending on how the area has been looked after, can sometimes become a tiny bit muddy, so perhaps don’t put on your, you know, quite new footwear, to illustrate. The upside? Well, the greenery’s lush, and you will hear the falls nearing, which I think is so encouraging. And actually, the temperature began to drop a little when traversing here so the little exercise did come in very very handy indeed. And the steps. Gosh, those steps coming up are no joke.

Sendang Gila Waterfall: Worth the Effort?

When you show up, Sendang Gila’s quite impressive, as a matter of fact! A little less private depending on when you show up to visit but quite beautiful when considering the height it pours from and what’s all around. Of course, depending on the time, that water will definitely be calling you to swim! Just try to check out how intense the current is prior jumping straight in, so I’d recommend.

If you check the photos, you may think that place must be quite isolated. Truthfully, there’s every chance of a crowd. Certainly not always brimming with people yet not private the way some other waterfalls I am familiar with around Indonesia. More or less just a note so that you are somewhat prepared.

Tiukelep Waterfall: An Extra Adventure

Tiukelep, as I can explain, is another falls that is only a quick hop from Sendang Gila, very well worth taking the time to observe! More or less, it requires maneuvering over parts that are sometimes a tad tricky; that said, that should be perfectly OK if you do wear respectable shoes. Basically, It’s usually quieter, like a super calming location, and often the cascade’s strength, which seems as though it’s pushing from in the middle of, almost, walls of foliage, gives it very much more wow thing.

Just know that compared against the walk up or the walk down from Sendang Gila, so some bits headed toward Tiukelep felt a touch even more fiddly! Though, I saw a few people doing fine going flip-flops but if I would revisit the spot? I will go with anything but those, truthfully.

What to Bring for the Tour: The Essentials

Alright, here’s my suggestions about stuff you might fancy taking: Really worthy shoes, certainly. The ground becomes slick sometimes so be smart. Don’t go very overboard, in other words, and think you need hiking boots, just a reliable pair should just get you by very well.

Water—certainly, it is wet over that place yet bring at a minimum 1.5L. Sunscreen and that is very true for cloudier moments as I know that the UV might still burn through your skin like a laser sometimes. Additionally take insect repellent: if you happen to spend a bit more visiting, just you may feel like your tasty blood might just well turn into their dinner!

Cash, yeah that is very obvious. Entry cost plus those “guides” possibly? They more than likely appreciate small offerings, to illustrate, if they have assisted in even more memories of what is surrounding you. And swimwear – perhaps super obvious and so if not desiring that cooling dip and getting drenched that can totally just be OK.

Food and Drink: Planning Ahead

Truthfully? Choices that can be located at the top and near where your bikes have now stopped may be a little bit…sparse. If I were you, that is only in case if being rather peckish, bring snacks! Something similar can for certain be true related to quenching! In general small store choices available near by there do not necessarily bring happiness.

Photo Opportunities: Capturing the Beauty

Oh, dude. Get ready to photograph stunning stuff! Obviously those falls on their own will probably be spectacular. Although I think you might find the area connecting Sendang Gila as you get near Tiukelep perhaps delivers even more magic?

As you travel on up toward Selong Hill it can almost definitely present unbelievable opportunities to be caught at a place to be filmed – particularly in sunnier conditions. Basically just play there safely when standing somewhere like an edge to catch something amazing.

Is the Selong Hill, Sendang Gila, and Tiukelep Tour Worth It?

Basically, do I feel like visiting Sendang Gila coupled along with Tiukelep beside Selong Hill deserves my recommendation? For that “cost of getting to travel there” point? Almost certainly! Although should you expect privacy and never encounter a face – in that case? Then look for something alternative! I still had such a special memory there in a way thanks to an experience – possibly just think very carefully related to what’s valuable for your memory creation then align what will make you happy there?
